COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 17th-ranked womens crew team returns to action Saturday, May 15 at the Lexus Cup/Central Region Rowing Championships on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The Buckeyes finished second overall last year with 56.5 points, behind champion Virginias mark of 62.
The No.2 Virginia crew will be competing again this year along with No. 5 Michigan, No. 8 Michigan State, No. 9 Wisconsin, and No. 18 North Carolina. Overall, 33 crews will compete at Oak Ridge.
Last year, the Buckeyes Varsity 8 boat finished sixth, the 2nd Varstiy 8 finished third, and the Varsity 4 boat finished seventh in the semifinals. The Novice boats both fared well; the 1st Novice 8 finished second while the 2nd Novice boat won their event.
The Buckeyes are coming off a strong showing at the Midwest Rowing Championships, where they were one of just three teams to send all five boats to the grand finals.
The semifinal races will begin at 9 a.m. followed by the grand finals at 1 p.m.
