Valeria León, a junior defensive specialist, dons the No. 3 jersey and represents the second-to-last issue of ‘Countdown Close-Up.’

León enters 2015 averaging 2.82 digs per set in her career, slotted 11th all-time at Ohio State. She has played in every single match since arriving on campus two years ago. Last season, León served as the team’s primary libero and logged time in all 136 sets while digging 482 balls (fifth-highest single season total in school history). She picked up Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors (10/13/14) after recording 3.44 digs/set and successfully handling 53 service receptions with no errors in a pair of OSU wins over nationally-ranked opponents.
