MGOLF: Coughlin III’s 68 Leads Buckeyes on Day 1 at LLI
Ohio State is in fourth place at 7-under par
GREENSBORO, Ga. — Ohio State sophomore Jeg Coughlin III fired a 4-under 68 to lead the Buckeyes to a 7-under 281 in the opening round of the Linger Longer Invitational at Reynolds Lake Oconee on Sunday.
As a team, the Buckeyes are in fourth place in the 16-team field. Georgia had the top round of the day at 16-under 272.
Coughlin III enjoyed a bogey-free trip around the Great Waters course, making a pair of birdies on each side. This was tied for his lowest round of the year and it was his best round in relation to par. He is in a tie for sixth headed to Monday’s second round.
Daniel Wetterich and Will Voetsch also posted under par rounds on Sunday. Wetterich posted a 2-under 70 and Voetsch a 1-under 71. Will Grimmer birdied two of his final five holes to card an even-par 70. Josh Wick, the fifth counter for the Buckeyes had a 2-over 74 and Caleb Ramirez, who is playing as an individual, also posted a 74.
The Buckeyes will tee off Monday morning at 9:20 a.m. with Chattanooga and Virginia.
