COLUMBUS, Ohio– With the 2013-14 collegiate wrestling season coming to a close a month ago, three-time NCAA champion Logan Stieber continued his quest to be the best in the world this past weekend as he, along with a trio of current and former Buckeyes, competed at the ASICS/Las Vegas Senior Open Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas.
Stieber, who just completed his junior season with the Buckeyes, finished third in the 65kg/143 pound bracket as the No. 6 seed. With the finish, Stieber automatically qualifies for the U.S. World Team Trials May 31-June 1 in Madison, Wis.

In the third-place match-up, the Buckeye from Monroeville, Ohio, defeated Frank Molinaro, who was a four-time All-American at Penn State from 2009-2012, 4-2.
Joining Stieber at the U.S. World Team Trials are fellow Buckeyes Reece Humphrey, a letterwinner in 2006 and 2008-10 and J.D. Bergman (2004-05; 2007-08). Humphrey, a two-time All-American, wrestling at 65kg/143 pounds finished fifth after Jordan Oliver, a two-time NCAA champion for Oklahoma State, forfeited.
A three-time All-American for the Buckeyes, 97kg/213 pounder Bergman handed Deron Winn, a two-time NJCAA champion for St. Louis Community College-Meramec, a 10-0 setback in the third-place bout.
Hunter Stieber just missed earning a spot at the U.S. Team Trials when he fell to Adam Hall in the seventh-place match, 10-3. A two-time All-American from Monroeville, Ohio, the younger Stieber faced the former Boise State NCAA All-American and Pac-10 Champion in the 70kg/154 pound bracket.
Buckeye Nathan Tomasello, who redshirted the 2013-14 season won the 55kg/121.25 pounds title in the FILA Junior National Championships.
