Brutus Buckeye and Lee Corso have been a match made in college football heaven for the last 24 seasons. In fact, it was the very matchup this Saturday between Penn State and Ohio State that the very tradition of Coach Corso donning mascot heads at the conclusion of each show debuted.

Oct 5, 1996 pitted the No. 4 ranked Nittany Lion and the No. 3 Buckeyes. Corso correctly predicted the eventual Ohio State (38-7) victory with the inception of the tradition rehashed each fall Saturday since.

To celebrate, let’s take a stroll down memory lane and check out some pics from past College GameDay scenes. Saturday will mark the 46th overall appearance on the program for Ohio State, the second most in college football. The Buckeyes boast a 32-13 record when CGD is on site.
