Jason Rule

Jason Rule joined the Ohio State athletic training staff in June 2013 and started working with the men’s hockey team in November 2017. He began his career with the Buckeyes with the men’s soccer and softball teams.

Rule was born in Wakefield, R.I., and grew up in Lafayette, Ind. He is a 2006 graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in athletic training.

Upon graduation from Purdue, Rule served as a seasonal intern with the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars. Following the 2006 season, Rule was appointed as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at West Virginia University. While there, he worked with the football team for two seasons and earned a master’s in 2009 with a focus in athletic training.

After WVU, Rule was named the head athletic trainer for the Muskegon Lumberjacks, a junior hockey team from Muskegon, Mich., in the United States Hockey League. Rule served in that position for two seasons before moving on to Army West Point as an assistant athletic trainer. At West Point, he worked with the hockey team and assisted with lacrosse.

Rule comes from an athletic training family, as his father was a former collegiate head athletic trainer and his brother is currently also a collegiate athletic trainer.

He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. He and his wife, Maggy, reside in Delaware, Ohio, and have a daughter, Grace, who was born in August 2021.
