Greg Oden is in his first season as a graduate assistant with the program in 2021-22. He is obviously no stranger to Ohio State as he led the Buckeyes to the national title game in his lone season as a player in 2007 and the spent three seasons as a student manager while completing his degree from 2017-19.
Oden was the Naismith Prep Player of the Year coming out of Lawrence North High School and was dominant in his one season with the Buckeyes in 2006-07. He averaged 15.7 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game while earning First-team All-Big Ten honors. He was named the NABC Defensive Player of the Year, the Pete Newell Big Man Award winner and a consensus second team All-American.
Following that season, he was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Portland Trailblazers. He played two seasons in Portland and one season in Miami. Following his NBA career, Oden played with the Jiangsu Dragons of the Chinese Basketball Association and also participated in the TBT and the Big3.
Oden returned to Ohio State prior to the 2016-17 season and worked as a student manager for three seasons while completing his sport industry degree. He received his undergraduate degree in the spring of 2019.
Oden would like to pursue a career in coaching and has joined the Buckeye staff in 2021-22 as a graduate assistant. He is pursing his masters in Sports Coaching.
Oden and his wife Sabrina were married in 2017 and have one daughter Londyn.
