Craig Erford joined the Ohio State coaching staff for the 2022 season after 12 years at the helm of the Archbishop Alter Boys Volleyball team. As head coach, Erford amassed an overall 217-67 record turning the Knights program into a state powerhouse, claiming state championships in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. Overall, his teams won nine regional titles in 11 playing seasons, while finishing as runner-up the other two.
He is the eight-time Greater Catholic League Coach of the Year, an eight-time Ohio West Region Coach of the Year and three-time state coach of the year. Additionally, Erford was named the 2021 USMC/AVCA National High School Boys Volleyball Coach of the Year.
Erford served as the president of the Ohio High School Boys Volleyball Association since 2015. He oversaw a 30% growth across the state in six years, including the creation of close to 30 programs. Additionally, he was the Ohio State Tournament Coordinator since 2014.
Erford was a National Head Coach for Air City Volleyball Club for eight years, while also serving as assistant director.
The Hamler, Ohio, native played three seasons (2000-02) at Trine University, starting as both an outside hitter and libero. He also worked with the women’s volleyball team as a student manager and graduated with a degree in Engineering Administration in 2003.
Additionally, Erford received his Master’s of Business Administration from Wright State University in 2006, and a Masters of Leadership from the University of Dayton in 2015.
