position Volunteer Assistant Coach

Cammi Prantl, a 2016 graduate of Ohio State and former outfielder/catcher for the Buckeyes, was hired as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2020 season.

“Cammi is a rising star in the coaching profession,” said head coach Kelly Kovach Schoenly. “She has knowledge, passion and a competitive spirit. Just watch, Cammi will have a huge impact on this team and a long and successful career as a coach. We’re very fortunate to be able to add her to the staff.”

Prantl was a four-year starter for the Buckeyes and three-time All-Big Ten performer. She never batted lower than .329 in a season and broke Ohio State’s all-time hits (247) and doubles (64) records as a senior. The Ashville, Ohio native became the 11th All-American in program history in her final year with her selection to the NFCA third team.

“I’m very excited to be joining the coaching staff,” said Prantl. “I want to thank Kelly and the rest of the staff for giving me this amazing opportunity. After spending four years as a player at OSU, I’m so excited to transition into a coaching role at the same university where it all started for me. This opportunity is something I don’t take lightly. I’m so eager to work with the 2020 Buckeyes on the road to a championship!”

Prantl helped the Buckeyes go 34-20-1 and earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament in 2016, the first of Schoenly’s four appearances while at the helm for Ohio State.
