position Director of Operations
Hometown Jackson, Ohio
Alma Mater Ohio State, 2005
Former Buckeye co-captain Beth Howe was officially named director of women’s basketball operations on May 21, 2013.
An OSU scholar-athlete and co-captain of the 2004-05 Big Ten Championship team, Howe worked as an account executive in the Ohio State Ticket Sales office from January 2009 to May 2013, helping increase women’s basketball group ticket sales more than 60 percent between the 2011 and 2012 seasons. She also helped serve as Ohio State’s primary administrator for the 2010 and 2011 NCAA Tournaments.
“Beth had just the background I was looking for in our director of operations position,” McGuff said. “As a former player she has a passion to see this program grow into one of the very best. She’s bright, energetic and organized and will help me make sure that we run this program in a very professional manner.”
A Varsity “O” Board member since 2009, Howe, a native of Jackson, Ohio, graduated from The Ohio State University in 2005 with a degree in human ecology before earning her Master’s degree in sport administration from Belmont University in Nashville in 2007. While in Nashville she worked with the NFL’s Tennessee Titans as an internet and publications intern and the Nashville Juvenile Court. She also has worked with the Big Ten Network “Student U” as a color analysis for Ohio State women’s basketball games from 2010-13.
“Having grown up in Ohio and been part of this program as a student-athlete, this is a dream job,” Howe said. “I’m very appreciative of the opportunity that has been presented to me from Coach McGuff and the athletics department. I am excited and looking forward to continuing to be part of The Ohio State University and the women’s basketball program.”
