Collegiate Career

Alejandra Cangrejo became a Buckeye July 13, 2022 when she was hired by Lisa Strom, head coach of the Buckeyes, as an assistant coach in Columbus.

Cangrejo, a native of Bogota, Colombia, played from 2010-14 at Duke University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology/sociology. She was a member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll and the All-ACC Academic Team from 2011-14.

She has played professionally on the Symetra Tour since 2015, competing in about 20 tournaments per year. Her best finish to date was tied for eighth at the Windsor (Calif.) Golf Classic in 2017.

Cangrejo helped Duke win the ACC title from 2012-14 and the Blue Devils won the NCAA Championship in 2014 and were runner-up in 2013.

Cangrejo is a certified LPGA teaching professional (level II) with experience teaching at the junior golf level, developing practice plans, analyzing swing efficiency and coaching an individual’s preferences and beliefs to create sustainable long-term success.
