Ohio State Men's Volleyball Elite Camp

CAMP DESCRIPTION

This all day camp is open to boys at the high school level, entering grades 9-12 in Fall 2019. Prior experience is HIGHLY recommended as this camp designed to teach skills, like those used here at Ohio State, to prepare you for competing at the next level.

Our camp staff is comprised of successful players, collegiate coaches, and highly touted club coaches. They bring in a wealth of expertise and success, having won over 15 NCAA National Championships as a whole and have represented Team USA at both the Junior and Youth levels. Their knowledge of volleyball skills and tactics inspires a high-energy, challenging camp environment to help you reach your full potential.

Camp fees include an Ohio State Volleyball T-shirt, lunch, and dinner for all campers. Overnight campers will also receive housing at the Hyatt Place in Grandview Yard and breakfast each morning.

KEVIN BURCH
OHIO STATE HEAD COACH

Kevin Burch is the 9th Men’s Volleyball coach for Ohio State. Entering his fi rst season leading the program, Burch has spent four years as an assistant for the Buckeyes and won 3 National Championships in that time. Burch has served in various capacities with three other volleyball programs in his career, all of which won National Championships during his tenure.

HUDSON BATES
OHIO STATE ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH

Hudson Bates is the newest member of the Buckeyes staff , serving as the Associate Head Coach and the program’s recruiting coordinator. Bates has 8 years of collegiate coaching experience as well as a decade-long professional playing career, both in the gym and on the beach. He was an AVP Pro as recently as 2016 and a member USA Men’s National Team from 2008-2010.

LUKE WOOD MALONEY
OHIO STATE ASSISTANT COACH

Luke Maloney is entering his second season with the Buckeyes and his fi rst as an assistant coach. Maloney has a decade of collegiate coaching experience, with stints at Stephen F. Austin University and Oregon State University with the women’s programs before moving to Columbus. Since 2016, Luke has served as the assistant Director of Elite Volleyball. He played collegiately at George Mason University from ’07-’10.

MITCH LUSH
OHIO STATE DIRECTOR OF OPS.

Mitch Lush is in his third year as the Buckeyes’ Director of Operations, as well as serving as the Summer Camp director for the program. Lush served as the team’s manager during his undergraduate studies at Ohio State during their 2016 National Championship season. Lush graduated from Ohio State with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in 2016.

ENROLLMENT

The fee for this camp is $550 for overnight campers and $475 for day campers. The camp is open to any and all boys entering grades 9-12 in fall 2019. Full payment is required at the time of online registration. You may register online by visiting OhioStateBuckeyes.com/camps. A 3% processing fee will be added to all online registrations. If registering by mail, please make checks payable to The Ohio State University. Any non-scholastic group of 5 or more that wishes to pay with one check for the entire group must do so ahead of time via mail. Any non-scholastic organization with a group of 5 or more registering the day of the camp must pay with credit card, cash, or money order. No exceptions will be made.

DISCOUNTS

Overnight campers who reside 1,000+ miles from The Ohio State University’s campus are eligible to receive a discounted rate at $500. Siblings and children of Ohio State employees are eligible to receive discounted rate at $495 for overnight campers and $427.50 for day campers. Proof of employment (i.e., copy of employee or BuckID) and payment must be submitted with the registration. Discounts are not available through online registration and may not be combined. Please make checks payable to The Ohio State University.

HOTEL INFORMATION

Overnight campers will be housed at the Hyatt Place in Grandview Yard, just a few minutes down the road from campus. Camp staff will also be staying at the hotel throughout the weekend to supervise those choosing to stay overnight. There will be two campers to a room and roommate requests can be made during registration. Any questions regarding housing at the Hyatt Place should be directed to camp director Mitch Lush at Lush.7@osu.edu.

REQUIRED FORMS FOR PARTICIPATION

The Parent Consent, Waiver & Release Form AND the Concussion Information Form are REQUIRED for all participants. Please visit OhioStateBuckeyes.com/camps to obtain these forms. Please complete, sign and send the forms with your child to check-in – do not send the forms to us prior to the date of camp. Athletes will not be permitted to participate without these forms.

EQUIPMENT

All campers are responsible for bringing their own equipment. No equipment will be provided to ANY camper.

TRANSPORTATION

Port Columbus International Airport is only 15 minutes from the Ohio State campus. More information on transportation from the airport will come closer to the start of camp.

CONFIRMATION

Upon processing of each registration, a confirmation notice will be sent by email. A packet of “Important Information for Registered Campers” (including the Parent Consent & Waiver Form and Concussion Information Form) will be posted online at OhioStateBuckeyes.com/camps at least 2 weeks prior to the start of each camp. This packet will not be separately mailed to campers.

Please check your email regularly, as this is our primary method of communication with campers and their parents.

REFUNDS

A refund less a $50 administrative fee (overnight campers) or $25 administrative fee (day campers) will be issued for any cancellation received by at least 2 weeks prior to the start of the camp. The administrative fee and the 3% online processing fee are not refundable for ANY reason.

Because we have to guarantee our number of campers in order to prepare for camp, any cancellation received less than 2 weeks prior to the start of the camp will not be eligible for any refund except in the case of injury, illness, or mandatory school event, in which case supporting documentation from a doctor or school is required.

A camp fee may not be transferred to any other Ohio State sports camp. A camp fee may not be transferred to any other camper. All cancellation notices must be received by the deadline above and submitted by mail, email, or fax – no phone calls or voicemails. All supporting documentation required for a refund to be approved and processed must be submitted within 10 days after the conclusion of the camp session. Refund requests must be submitted on the Refund Request Form available at OhioStateBuckeyes.com/camps. Campers who are injured while at camp but remain at camp will not be eligible for any refund.
