Men's Basketball Summer Camp

June 7-8

We welcome you to attend the 2018 Athletic Training Summer Camp. This camp is for high school students and is intended to teach basic athletic training skills. The focus will be on anatomy and injury prevention techniques as they relate to athletics. This will be reinforced through a dynamic anatomy overview and a “classroom to the clinic” approach.

The camp will include both lectures and group discussions. Interactive lab sessions in the Ohio Stadium Recruit Room will be used to complement the lectures and allow you to practice taping, splinting, bracing and specific exercises. Additionally, you will practice on-field skills inside Ohio Stadium, right on the field! The goals for this workshop are to give you insight into the field of athletic training and to assist you with basic skills that will allow you to help and gain experience at your high school.

The Ohio State University Athletic Training staff will facilitate all lectures, discussions and labs. This format will allow for direct contact with fulltime Division I Certified Athletic Trainers.

The registration fee is $400 for both days or $200 for a single day for a team and one head coach. Teams must consist of a minimum of eight players and maximum of 12. Players must be in grades 9-12 (as of Fall 2018).

The head coach must send full payment when submitting the team’s registration using this form. Registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis. More than one check may be used to pay the fee. Please make checks payable to The Ohio State University. Each head coach receives an Ohio State Basketball polo shirt.

Additional assistant coaches are welcome to attend with their team. There is an optional fee of $30 to purchase a polo shirt for each assistant coach.

Registration for this camp is open to any and all high school teams, provided that enrollment will be limited to the first 24 teams that submit a registration and full payment.

We expect teams will play in a shootout format, including a minimum of three games on Thursday and three games on Friday. Teams may attend both days or elect to attend on either Thursday or Friday.

All teams are required to provide basketballs (labeled with the team’s name) for practice and warm-up drills prior to games. Teams should bring dark and light jerseys, preferably reversibles.

Instruction session, use of the Jerome Schottenstein Center, St. John Arena, and the student recreation center. Two-man officiating crews on all games. Official scorer and timer provided. Coaches’ social on Thursday evening (June 8) is included in team’s registration fee.
