COLUMBUS, Ohio – Elizabeth Campbell and Taylor Sandbothe earned All-Northeast Region honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Tuesday (Dec. 8). It marks the second straight All-Region performance for both Buckeyes as each received the same recognition last season.
As members of the 14-person All-Region squad, Campbell and Sandbothe are also now eligible for potential All-America status.
Campbell has started all 34 matches this season for the Scarlet & Gray and ranks fourth in the Big Ten averaging 3.63 kills per set. The 2014 All-America honorable mention has racked up 11 double-doubles this season and owns 18 over the past two years as a Buckeye.
Sandbothe, a unanimous selection to the 2015 All-Big Ten Team, is honing in on several all-time school records during her junior campaign. She enters the weekend with 152 total blocks, ranked second and just 16 total blocks away from the top spot Dawn McDougall (168 blocks; 1989). Her .371 hitting percentage, 32 solo blocks and 120 block assists have all cracked the Ohio State top-5 thus far.
Campbell, Sandbothe and the Buckeyes continue their journey on Friday (Dec. 11), traveling to Lexington, Ky., to face the Washington Huskies in the third round of the NCAA Tournament at 7:30 p.m. ET.
