COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State stayed at No. 12 in this week’s NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll after a shutout victory against Central Michigan University and a close loss to now No. 7 Louisville. The Buckeyes are 4-2 overall with their two losses coming by a combined two goals to a pair of top-10 ranked teams. The Buckeyes will have new challenges ahead of them as they enter Friday’s game.

Only four Big Ten opponents rank higher than Ohio State in this week’s poll. The Buckeyes open Big Ten play against Northwestern on Friday. The Wildcats jumped from No. 13 to No. 11 and now sit one spot ahead of Ohio State.

NATIONAL STATISTICS
Ohio State appears as a leader in many of the NCAA Division I national statistical rankings. Most notably, the Buckeyes top the list for national leaders in single game goals (11), points (33), and assists (11).

As a team, the Buckeyes are tied for third nationally in points per game (11.50) alongside Liberty. They also rank second in goals per game with 4.33, topped only by North Carolina with 4.8.

Esther Clotet Alsina leads the Big Ten and is No. 6 nationally in points per game (2.50). She and teammate Mackenzie Allessie own the top two spots in the conference currently in points per game. Allessie, a freshman, is averaging 2.33 points/game.

QUICK STUDIES
Speaking of freshmen, the newest Buckeyes have made an immediate impact: Allessie, Leanne Bough, Sarah Charley and Delaney Lawler have all started every game thus far. Allessie, Bough and Charley have combined for 20 points – or nearly 30 percent of the team’s overall total. Lawler, a defender, has helped a defense that is allowing just 1.00 goals per game and already has three shutouts.

A GAME TO WATCH
Ohio State once again appears on the NFHCA list of ‘games to watch’. Friday’s contest against the No. 11 Wildcats was denoted as a game of interest. The action will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Buckeye Varsity Field and admission is free. The game will also be streamed live on BTN Plus (subscription required).
