COLUMBUS, Ohio – Lukas Buckley, a captain for the 2020 men’s lacrosse team and veteran of 55 career games, was signed to the 40-man roster of Major League Lacrosse’s Boston Cannons on Saturday.
Buckley grew up just 20 miles from where the Cannons play their home games at Veterans Memorial Stadium. He is a native of Walpole, Mass. and attended Xavieran Brothers High School.
In his Ohio State career, Buckley finished with 50 points on 29 goals and 21 assists. His top offensive season came as a redshirt freshman in 2017 when he had 15 goals and nine assists for a Buckeye squad that appeared in the program’s first-ever national championship game. As a redshirt senior, he played in all seven games before the COVID-19 outbreak cut the season short.
An excellent student, Buckley was a four-time OSU Scholar-Athlete and as a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar for having a 3.7 or better grade-point average during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 academic years. He graduated in May of 2019 with his bachelor’s degree in finance and in 2020 with a specialized master’s degree in business/finance from the Fisher College of Business.
