COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State will go from one top event to another, as this week, the Buckeyes will take part in the Calusa Cup at Calusa Pines in Naples, Fla. Eight of the nine teams in the field are ranked in the Golfstat Top 50, including four of the Top 5. Tee times will start at noon on Sunday and Monday and 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
- Ohio State’s lineup will be the same for the fourth consecutive event, featuring Adam Wallin, Maxwell Moldovan, JonErik Alford, Neal Shipley and Jackson Chandler.
- Ohio State finished runner-up at The Johnnie-O at Sea Island two weeks ago and was fourth at the Valspar Collegiate last week. The team now has five Top 5 finishes in eight events this season.
- This is the third year of the Calusa Cup, and it will be the Buckeyes’ first appearance in the event.
- Maxwell Moldovan has finished fourth in each of the last two events and has five Top-5 finishes in eight events this season. He is leading the team with a career-best 70.00 scoring average and has posted 20 of his 24 rounds at par or better.
- JonErik Alford is coming off the best event of his career as he finished the Valspar at a career-low 5-under par. He also finished in a tie for 11th which was his best finish in a full-field event. Alford is second on the team with a career-low 72.06 scoring average.
- Neal Shipley was one of three Buckeyes to post a final round 68 at the Valspar as he finished the event at 2-over par. He made a pair of eagles last week and now leads the team with six on the season.
- Jackson Chandler rebounded from an opening round 76 at the Valspar to post rounds of 71-72. The senior is averaging a career-best 72.38 this year and has a pair of Top 20 finishes.
- Adam Wallin is due for a great event. He has had a tough couple of events his last two times out but is still averaging 72.13. He is second behind Moldovan with four Top 20 finishes this season.
- The forecast looks great for the three days, with temperatures in the upper-80s with very little chance of rain.
