COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Buckeyes finished with their second victory on the weekend over the Tulsa Hurricane to win the ITA Kickoff Championship.
In doubles, Ohio State clinched the doubles point in a whopping twenty-three minutes. Freshman tandem Justin Boulais and Cannon Kingsley coasted to a 6-0 victory on court three, while John McNally and Robert Cash rolled 6-1to seize the doubles point.
In singles, Cannon Kingsley defeated Jarod Hing 6-0, 6-3 to bring the Buckeyes to a 2-0 match lead. Kyle Seelig dominated Juan Pablo Cenoz posting a 6-0, 6-1 victory to set up the clinching point. On court one, John McNally brought it home with a 6-2,6-1 victory over Kody Pearson to improve Ohio State’s overall record to 6-0.
Ohio State rolled to another 4-0 victory later in the evening versus the Toledo Rockets. John McNally and Kyle Seelig won 6-1 on court three while Justin Boulais and Robert Cash clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory.
In singles, Justin Boulais defeated Krzysztof Wetoszka 6-0,6-2. Kyle Seelig gave the Buckeyes a 3-0 match lead with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Cole Shoults. On court six, Tim Seibert clinched the match point with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Max Skaer.
Ohio State will host No.1 Texas Saturday Jan 26, 1 p.m. (EST) at the OSU Varsity Tennis Center.
