COLUMBUS, Ohio – In the second set of spring Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings, Ohio State has climbed to third place behind Stanford and UCLA and ahead of fourth-place Michigan and fifth-place Texas.
The Buckeye men’s tennis team posted a 34-3 record on its way to a runner-up finish at the NCAA Championship. Five different Buckeyes garnered all-tournament team honors, including Mikael Torpegaard, Kyle Seelig, Marting Joyce, Matt Mendez and Hunter Tubert. The rowing Buckeyes also placed in the Top 10 with a sixth-place finish at NCAA Championships behind CRCA All-Conference picks Rachel Engel, Cassandra Johnson, Ida Kruse, Lexie Nothdurft and Alice Riley. Other Top 25 qualifications for the Buckeyes included a 17th-place showing by softball and a 23rd-place finish from women’s golf.
The strong Buckeye finishes are in addition to a third-place finish from the men’s volleyball Buckeyes earlier in the spring campaign.
