COLUMBUS, Ohio – Nine home games highlight Ohio State’s 2021 fall schedule, which was released today. The Buckeyes begin their regular season on Friday, Aug. 27 and have 18 games scheduled prior to the Big Ten Tournament, which takes place Nov. 4-7 at Rutgers University.
“I am really looking forward to the fall season and the schedule we have put together,” said head coach Jarred Martin. “We had an amazing run in the spring and I am so proud of the team for its resiliency and growth as we made it back to the Big Ten final.
Now we set our sights on a fall with conference and non-conference games. We want to be challenged. We want to compete. And we want to build off what we have accomplished as a program. The Big Ten is going to be very strong as usual and we also are really looking forward to some top programs from the ACC, Patriot League, Atlantic 10, and the MAC.”
After playing a Big Ten-only season in the spring, Ohio State and the rest of the league returns to a full complement of non-conference games this fall. That starts Aug. 27 when a game at Ball State and then on Aug. 31 when a trip to Kent State.
In September, Ohio State hosts four games at Buckeye Varsity Field: Sept. 3 vs. Lafayette, which will be the home opener, Sept. 6 vs. Miami (Ohio), Sept. 19 vs. Virginia and Sept. 27 vs. Louisville. The Buckeyes are on the road during that month at Wake Forest (Sept. 10), vs. Appalachian State (Sept. 12 at Queens University), and at Michigan State (Sept. 17).
The month of October opens with a rematch of last spring’s Big Ten Tournament championship game between Ohio State and Michigan in Columbus on Oct. 3. Ohio State also hosts Indiana on Oct. 8 as part of Alumnae Weekend and Ohio University on Oct. 10.
A road trip to Northwestern and Iowa in scheduled for Oct. 15-17 before the final two regular season home games – vs. Penn State (Oct. 22) and Rutgers (Oct. 24). The regular season concludes with a weekend road trip to the east coast Oct. 29-31 at Maryland (Oct. 29) and at St. Joseph’s (Oct. 31).
Rutgers University will be the site of this fall’s Big Ten Tournament, followed by the NCAA Tournament, which begins Nov. 13 and concludes with the Final Four at Wake Forest Nov. 20-22.
“This team has worked hard over the summer to grow, connect, and find ways to make sure we are at our best in the fall season,” said Martin. “This schedule will challenge us with different styles of play and various solutions we will have to find together. I can’t wait to get back in August for preseason. I know the team will be up to the challenge and I can’t wait to see them compete in the Scarlet and Gray.”
