COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team joined the men’s team and spent the day volunteering at the third annual Buddy Up Tennis Summer Smash. Buddy Up Tennis is a fitness group for individuals with Down Syndrome.
“This program impacts so many lives, including my own,” senior Danielle Wolf said. “My favorite part about this event is that you will not see one person without a smile on their face.”
The Buckeyes quickly made friends with the young athletes while they played warm-up games together. They then paired up with the Buddy Up Tennis athletes to compete in doubles matches. Afterward, the Scarlet and Gray athletes played in exhibition while the young athletes cheered on their new friends.
Beth Gibson, Founder and President of Buddy Up Tennis, appreciates the Buckeyes volunteering.
“Our athletes love playing with the Buckeye Tennis Teams; they are truly an extraordinary group of individuals,” Gibson said.
