COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s cross country team travels to Notre Dame, Ind., this Friday, Oct. 3, for the 5k Notre Dame Invitational.

Ohio State returns to action after a three-week training block against a balanced field featuring nine teams ranked in the national Top 40. The Buckeyes will race nine athletes, led by seniors Katie Borchers and Michelle Thomas, in the Blue Division race at Notre Dame’s Burke Golf Course at approximately 4:15 p.m. ET. Three athletes will also compete in the open race at 3:30 p.m.

Buckeyes Ranked Fifth in Great Lakes Regional Rankings, 37th Nationally
Ohio State climbed a spot to No. 5 in the Great Lakes regional rankings for the week of Sept. 29 by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The squad is tied for 37th in the USTFCCCA national poll with Princeton and New Hampshire.

Michigan checks-in at No. 1 both nationally and regionally. Second-ranked Michigan State is second in the region, followed by No. 16 Wisconsin, No. 35 Toledo, No. 37 Ohio State and No. 29 Butler.

Last Time Out
Ohio State ran at the Bluegrass Invitational in Lexington, Ky., Sept. 13.

The Buckeye women totaled a score of 39 to capture the team title, defeating Eastern Kentucky (75) and several top runners from No. 19 Oklahoma State (76). All five scorers for the Buckeyes ran personal-best times for a 5k race, led by individual champion Borchers. Borchers earned Big Ten athlete of the week honors after posting a personal-best 5k time of 16:35.90.
