COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State Rifle fired a team tally of 4,663 this weekend, outscoring No. 5 Air Force (4,655) and UTEP (4,594) inside Converse Hall. It represents the Buckeyes’ second highest total of the season, only two points behind the performance at TCU last weekend. Senior Rhiann Travis led the way for the Buckeyes with an aggregate score of 1,174, the second highest individual aggregate of 2019-20.
Ohio State’s smallbore score of 2,316 is the highest of the season and was fueled by individual season high 581 from senior Jacob Buchanan. He was followed closely by a solid overall team effort from Travis (579), and sophomores Ariel Hall (579), Annabelle Stanec (577), and Annie Tomb (568). The freshman duo of Natalie Katsuyama (569) and Katie Ezell (565) led the way for the individuals with junior Jared Minor (560), freshman Joel Potts (559), and juniors Mica Harr (559), and Megan Wilcoxson (550) rounding out individual scoring.
In air rifle, the Buckeyes posted a score of 2,347 paced by a season-best score of 595 from Travis. Hall (589), Tomb (582), Buchanan (581), and Stanec (580) rounded out team scoring. Harr led the way for the individuals with a season-best score of 586. Ezell also carded a 586 while Katsuyama (579), Potts (571), Minor (570), and Wilcoxson (567) rounded out individual scoring.
“There were a lot of positives to take away from our performance on Saturday,” said head coach Ryan Tanoue. “We saw some really great performances from many different members of the team. Following up our season best performance from last week with another good result was a really great step forward and getting the victory over two really solid opponents was also a fantastic feeling for our group.”
Ohio State returns to action in Columbus next Saturday, February 1st against West Virginia University.
