COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 18 Ohio State men’s basketball team topped Cedarville 95-52 in an exhibition game Wednesday night at Value City Arena. The Buckeyes open their 2019-20 campaign with an 8:30 p.m. ET contest against in-state foe Cincinnati Nov. 6 at Value City Arena.
Against the Yellow Jackets, Kaleb Wesson led four Buckeyes in double figures with 23 points to go along with seven boards. D.J. Carton added 15 points while CJ Walker chipped in with 10 and Kyle Young tacked on 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Quinton Green led Cedarville with 16 points while Branden Maughmer added 11.
After the Buckeyes scored the first six points of the game, Cedarville climbed back in it, eventually knotting the score at 20-all on a 3-pointer by Maughmer with 9:45 left in the first half. CJ Walker responded with a fast-break layup but Isaiah Speelman answered with a 3-pointer of his own for the 23-22 Yellow Jacket lead with 8:24 left to play. However, the Buckeyes held Cedarville without a field goal in its last 6:52 as the Buckeyes closed the half on a 19-4 run to take a 41-27 lead into the break.

Kaleb Wesson paced the Buckeyes with 13 points while Young added eight points and eight boards over the first 20 minutes. Maughmer led the Yellow Jackets with 11 points while Green added 10 in the opening half.
The Yellow Jackets trimmed the Buckeyes lead to 54-43 with 14:00 remaining but the Buckeyes answered with a 25-1 run over the next 6:51, capped by a Duane Washington Jr. dunk on the break, to put the game out of reach.
The Buckeyes connected on 20 of 29 shots (69.0 percent) in the second half and finished at 51.6 percent (33-for-64) from the field for the game.
