Buckeyes to Represent at World University Games

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Seven from the Ohio State swimming & diving program are set to compete for four countries at the World University Games from July 3-14 in Naples, Italy. In addition to the student-athletes, head diving coach Justin Sochor will coach the United States diving team. All swimming events will begin with preliminary heats at 3:30 a.m. ET, followed by finals at noon. A Buckeye schedule breakdown can be found below.

Representing the United States in swimming, rising senior Molly Kowal will compete in the 1500 Free. Kowal finished the 2018-19 season as a CSCAA First Team All-American in the 1650 Free, posting a national runner-up finish with a school record time of 15:44.61. On the diving team, rising junior Jacob Siler, rising sophomore Jacob Fielding and incoming freshman Lyle Yost compete for Coach Sochor.

Rising senior Kathrin Demler will represent Germany in the 200 IM, 400 IM, 200 Fly and 200 Free. Demler is the 2019 Big Ten Champion in the 200 Fly, setting the school record of 1:55.06 at the NCAA Championships. In addition, rising junior Connor Isings competes for Canada in the 50 Breast and 100 Breast.

Incoming freshman Thomas Watkins is on the New Zealand team, competing in the 100 Back, 200 Back and 400 IM.
