COLUMBUS, Ohio – Coach Beth Burns and members of the Ohio State women’s basketball team will participate in an autograph/photo session tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the registration headquarters of the Columbus Komen Race of the Cure. The registration office is located on the second floor of the atrium at Columbus City Center Mall.

The Buckeyes will be marking their fifth-consecutive year in the 5K Coed Run/Walk being held Saturday in downtown Columbus. The 1-mile fun walk begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by the race at 9 a.m. More than 16,000 supporters are expected to participate. A family health expo will be featured from 8 a.m. to noon. An awards ceremony will cap the event at 10:30 a.m.

Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths among women ages 40-59. With money raised from the event, 75 percent of the proceeds will fund local area breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs. Remaining funds will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation National Grant Program. The 2000 Columbus Race raised $672,000 toward research efforts. The Buckeyes raised approximately $12,000.
