Maineville, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s golf team sits in a tie for second place, three strokes back of leader Illinois, after an opening-round 294 at the Big Ten Championships Friday at TPC River’s Bend. Illinois leads after a 3-over 291, followed by the Buckeyes at a 6-over 294.
Senior Niki Schroeder leads the Buckeyes in a tie for fourth after tallying an even-par 72. Freshman Aneka Seumantufa tied freshman Lauren Peter for seventh after a 1-over 73. Freshman Skylar Thompson shot a 4-over 76 to tie for 33rd.
Sophomore Yukie Sasaki notched a 7-over 79 while junior Adeena Shears rounded out the Buckeye lineup in a tie for 69th.
As a team, Ohio State went 3-under in par-5 scoring, the second best of any team through 18 holes. Individually, Schroeder is tied for first in Par-5 scoring. Thompson leads the tournament in par-3 scoring at 3-under.
