2018 World Fencing Championships Website
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three current members and four recent graduates of the Ohio State fencing team will be competing in the World Fencing Championships in Wuxi, China from July 19-27.
Gabriela Cecchini (women’s foil), Marc-Antoine Blais Belanger (men’s epee) and Julien Baneux (men’s foil) will be fencing on Friday and Saturday in individual competition. Cecchini earned an All-American finish, placing eighth overall in her first appearance at the NCAA Championships. Blais Belanger is the 2018 men’s epee national champion and finished 29th at the 2018 Pan American Championships. Baneux finished fifth at the 2018 NCAA qualifier and fourth at the 2018 MFC Championships.
These Buckeyes join a group of alumni who will also be competing at this year’s World Championships.
