COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s lacrosse team will begin the year ranked No. 8 in the USILA/Nike Division I Coaches Preseason Poll, the organization announced today.
The Buckeyes are one of five Big Ten schools in the top 12, the most of any conference in the nation. It’s also Ohio State’s highest-ever preseason ranking from the USILA, topping the No. 11 sport that the Buckeyes started in the poll prior to the 2016 season.
Ohio State’s schedule features nine games against teams ranked in the poll and five of these contests are at home: vs. No. 6 Notre Dame (March 25), No. 7 Rutgers (April 28), No. 12 Penn State (March 31), No. 14 Towson (March 10) and No. 19 Hofstra (Feb. 17).
The Buckeyes’ regular season opens on Feb. 3 at Cleveland State with the home opener slated for Feb. 10 against Boston University inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Ohio State returns four of its top six scorers and three starting defenders from a team that appeared in the national championship game last season.
