COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State synchronized swimming team hit the road for the first time this season and won both meets in a busy weekend on the east coast. On Saturday, the Buckeyes knocked off Richmond by a score of 94-51, and they beat William and Mary with a score of 102-75.5.
Breanna Malone was excellent in her two solo routines, scoring a season-high 81.3000 at U of R and a 77.0000 at W&M to take first place on each day.
In the duet competition over the weekend, Rachel Warren and Shea Ramsey earned a season-high 79.9667 at Richmond followed by a 73.9000 at W&M to take first at both meets. In their first duet performances of the season, Renee Stehlik and Daria Torba scored impressive scores of 79.0000 and 71.9333 to take second on each day as well.
The trio of Quinn Connor, Jessica Giannuzzi, and Lizzie Welzien also took first at both competitions with scores of 80.1000 and 74.7333. Kaitlyn Carboun, Katie Farrell , and Sarah Walsh also showcased their routine for the first time this season and placed second on both days with scores of 78.7667 and 74.2667.
The team of Giannuzzi, Malone, Starrett, Stehlik, Torba, Walsh, Warren, and Welzien captured first place on both days, too. They followed a season-best score of 84.1000 at Richmond with a score of 76.8333 at W&M.
In the technical events at William and Mary, Lizzie Walsh won the A figures with an outstanding 70.3077. In the B figures, Jessica Giannuzzi was on top of the charts with a 67.7076.
Overall, it was a great weekend for the Buckeyes as they prepare to hit the road again next weekend to dual Arizona in Tucson on February 17 and 18.
