Buckeyes Sweep Coast Guard & Army

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State pistol team picked up a pair of wins against Coast Guard and Army. The Buckeyes defeated the competition with an Open score of 6,653. The Bears came in second with a 6,486 tally and the Midshipmen scored a 6,437 to finish third.

OPEN:

Ohio State 6,653 (2,241 air; 2,241 sport; 2,171 standard)

Coast Guard 6,486 (2,170 air; 2,207 sport; 2,109 standard)

Army 6,437 (2,192 air; 2,207 sport; 2,038 standard)

WOMEN:

Ohio State 3,286 (1,615 air; 1,671 sport)

Coast Guard 3,245 (1,606 air; 1,639 sport)

Army 3,088 (1,529 air; 1,559 sport)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Ohio State swept the open and women’s categories.
  • Jackson Leverett placed first overall. He won air by tying his personal best while coming in second in standard pistol and fourth in sport.
  • Katelyn Abeln finished second in the women’s category and fourth overall. She was second in both women’s and open sport pistol, first in air and fourth in standard.
  • Amanda Ackerman came in third in the women’s category behind a slew of personal bests.
  • The women’s sport pistol team tied the school record with a score of 1,671.
  • Sam Gens took second in air pistol.
