Buckeyes Sign Seven to National Letters of Intent

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Steve Rohlik, Ohio State men’s hockey coach, announced the signing of seven future Buckeyes to National Letters of Intent this week. The group of six forwards and a defensemen includes five USHL players and one from both the AJHL and BCHL. The players hail from six states and a Canadian province.

Joining the Buckeye program will be: Matt Jennings (Buford, Ga./Green Bay – USHL), Jaedon Leslie (St. Albert, Alberta/Whitecourt – AJHL), James Marooney (Chaska, Minn./Waterloo – USHL), Collin Peters (Sheboygan, Wis./Lincoln – USHL), Quinn Preston (Trenton, Mich./Dubuque – USHL), Kamil Sadlocha (Carpentersville, Ill./Madison – USHL) and AJ Vanderbeck (Monument, Colo./Wenatchee – BCHL).

In second season with the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL … an alternate captain this year and had six points, with three goals and three assists, through first 12 games … played in 60 regular season games with the Gamblers in 2016-17, posting 25 points on 11 goals and 14 assists … started NAHL career with the Topeka Roadrunners in 2014-15, playing in four games … began next season with the Roadrunners, posting 25 points (8g, 17a) in 30 games before ending the season with the Minot Minotauros; had 7-8-15 line through final 14 regular season games and then saw action in four playoff contests … came up through Thunder program.

Alternate captain with Whitecourt Wolverines this season and posted 22 points, with eight goals and 14 assists, through first 21 games … third season with the Wolverines of the AJHL … saw action in 53 games in 2016-17, with 15-15-30 lines … in 2015-16, posted nine points (4g, 5a) in 39 games … played with St. Albert Raiders AAA program.

Waterloo Black Hawks (USHL)
Defenseman, 5-10, 170
In first year with Waterloo in the USHL … posted two assists through first 11 games … played for Holy Family Catholic for four years, along with Team Northwest … had 29 points, with 12 goals and 17 assists, in 28 games in 2016-17 while serving as an alternate captain for Holy Catholic.

Lincoln Stars (USHL)
Forward, 6-0, 165
In second year with the Lincoln Stars, serving as an alternate captain; picked up an assist through four games … started 2016-17 at Northern Michigan University of the WCHA, with five points in 23 games, before finishing year with Lincoln in the USHL, posting 6-7-13 line in 19 regular season games … first played in the USHL in 2013-14, skating in two games with Muskegon, and then played in 28 games with Sioux Falls in 2014-15, notching 11 points (6g, 5a) … played in 12 playoff games as Sioux Falls won the 2015 Clark Cup … began 2015-16 with Sioux Falls, picking up 19 points, including 10 goals, in 35 games before moving to Lincoln and recording 13 points in 19 regular season games … represented Team USA at 2015 World Junior A Challenge and was selected for the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game that season … played for Sheboygan High School, Team Wisconsin and Milwaukee Jr. Admirals.

Had eight points through first nine games with Dubuque in the USHL this season … played with the Fighting Saints in 2016-17 as well, scoring 35 points on 14 goals and 21 assists; also saw action in eight playoff games … played in the NAHL in 2015-16 with the Topeka Roadrunners, posting a 17-17-34 line in 59 regular season games and picking up six points (3g, 3a) in seven playoff contests … NAHL All-South Division Rookie Team selection.

In second season with Madison Capitols in the USHL … posted six points (2g, 4a) through first eight games … skated in 57 games in 2016-17 and had 22 points, with eight goals and 14 assist … skated in two games with U.S. National U17 team and with US NTDP … selected for 2017 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game and had an assist in the contest … has been listed on NHL Central Scouting lists … played with Chicago Mission in youth hockey.

Captain for the Wenatchee Wild in the BCHL this season … through 12 games, had 17 points, including 11 goals … put up 66 points, on 39 goals and 27 assists, in 55 regular season games with the Wild in 2016-17; added nine points in 10 playoff outings … skated in the USHL with the Sioux Falls Stampede in 2015-16, playing in 50 games and posting a 7-7-14 line … began junior career with the Lone Star Brahmas in the NAHL in 2014-15; played in 56 games and had 21 goals, 14 assists and 35 points … came up through Colorado Rampage program.
