Buckeyes Set to Race at 2019 World Rowing U23 Championships

SARASOTA, Fla. –Five Buckeyes will be competing at the U23 World Championships in Sarasota, Fla. this weekend for their respective countries. Ohio State will have three competing in the Women’s Eight and one competing in the Women’s Coxed Four and Women’s Pair.

Sierra Tiede, Maddie Perrett, and Leonie Heuer will be competing in the 8+, with Tiede and Perrett racing for the United States and Heuer racing for Germany. Jessy Vermeer will be racing in the 2- for the Netherlands and Lexie Nothdurft will be racing for Australia in the 4+.

The event starts on Wednesday, July 24 and will conclude with finals on Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28.

Heuer, Nothdurft, Vermeer and Tiede were members of the First Varsity Eight for the 2019 season, helping the boat to a second-place finish at the 2019 Big Ten Championships and a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championships. Perrett was a member of the Second Varsity Eight boat that finished second at the conference championships and fifth-overall at the NCAA Championships.
