COLUMBUS, Ohio – Emma Maltais (Canada) and Sofie Lundin (Sweden) have been named to their respective national teams’ rosters for the 2023 IIHF Women’s World Championships next month. Six past and present Buckeyes have received invites to USA Hockey’s 2023 Women’s National Team Evaluation Camp in hopes of making the U.S. roster and joining their teammates at the tournament in Brampton, Ontario set for April 5-16.

Maltais will play in her third World Championships with this year’s roster announcement. Maltais is a two-time world gold medalist for Canada at the senior level, skating with the team for their 2021 and 2022 gold medal finishes. In all, she has three gold medals with the Canadian senior women’s national team, winning gold in 2022 at the Beijing Olympics.

Lundin will make her fourth appearance at the World Championships for Team Sweden. The Buckeye freshman has played with Sweden’s senior national team since 2019. She was also a 2022 winter Olympian for her country, helping the team to an eighth-place finish.

Current Buckeyes Riley Brengman, Hadley Hartmetz, Gabby Rosenthal and Makenna Webster join Ohio State alumnae Clair DeGeorge and Jincy Dunne as invitees to USA Hockey’s 2023 Women’s National Team Evaluation Camp, which will take place March 27-31 at the National Sports Center Super Rink in Blaine, Minn.

Brengman, Hartmetz, Rosenthal and Webster are coming off a national runner-up finish at the 2023 Frozen Four and helped Ohio State to its first regular season conference title as well as a program record tying 33 wins in the 2022-23 season.

Dunne has played in the last two world championships for the United States, earning silver at both. Brengman, DeGeorge and Rosenthal joined Dunne on the Team USA roster in the Rivalry Series last November.
