COLUMBUS, Ohio – The next season of Ohio State men’s and women’s swimming and diving is set in the books as director of swimming and diving Bill Dorenkott announced the Buckeyes’ 2021-22 schedule on Wednesday. The Buckeyes, who finished the 2021 season seventh at both the Men’s and Women’s NCAA Championships, will host eight meets over the course of the year and face multiple top-10 2021 NCAA finishers.
Ohio State begins the season with the return of its annual Alumni Weekend. The weekend includes the Scarlet and Gray Intrasquad meet on Friday, Oct. 8 and the Alumni Meet on Saturday, Oct. 9.
Kicking off the home meet schedule is a two-day double dual with Indiana, Penn State and Virginia Tech on Oct. 29 and 30. The Buckeye men will compete against all three opponents while the women will swim against the Hoosiers and Hokies.
For the first road meet of the season, the reigning Big Ten Champion women’s team heads north on Nov. 11 to face Akron. The men’s and women’s programs reunite the next day to play host to Denison on Nov. 12.
The Buckeyes continue the first half of the season in Columbus with the Ohio State Fall Invitational set for November 18-20 at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. Teams joining the field of competition include Kentucky, Pitt, Indiana, Cincinnati, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech and UCLA.
Ohio State rings in the new year with three meets in January. The Buckeyes host a two-day double dual against Texas and Kentucky on Jan. 14-15 before taking their first full team road trip of the season to South Bend, Ind. Jan. 21-22 for the Shamrock Invitational. The following weekend, the men take on Cleveland State on Jan. 29 at McCorkle.
The Buckeyes host their final regular season meet Feb. 11-13 with the Ohio State Winter Invitational. Johns Hopkins and Ohio are set to make the trip to Columbus for the meet.
Post season competition begins Feb. 16-19 with the Women’s Big Ten Championships in Madison, Wisc. The men’s conference championship meet is set for Feb. 23-26 in West Lafayette, Ind. The Men’s and Women’s Last Chance Meets follows conference championship competition on March 6 and Feb. 27, respectively.
Ohio State swimming and diving closes the 2021-22 season at the NCAA Championships starting March 16 in Atlanta, Ga. The women’s team competes March 16-19 and the men’s squad takes the pool the following week from March 23-26.
The Buckeyes return to action after a successful 2021 campaign during which the program finished the regular season a combined 5-2. The women’s team won its second consecutive Big Ten title while the men took home third at the Big Ten Championships. The program made history with seventh-place NCAA Championship finishes on both the men’s and women’s side as the women earned their best result at the meet in program history and the men earned their best finish since 1965.
