COLUMBUS, Ohio – Following up on an impressive postseason performance, Ohio State director of tennis Ty Tucker and the Buckeyes are geared for another strong schedule.
The 2019-20 season kicks off with the ATP Challenger Tour hosted this week at the OSU Varsity Tennis Center featuring a talented group of professional and collegiate talent. A total of eight Buckeyes will be in action, six current players and two former players, this week.
Ohio State will officially start their collegiate season in Tulsa, Okla. for the ITA All-American Championship. In preparation for the spring season, the Buckeyes will finish off with a three-legged stretch of tournament play. Starting with the ITA Midwest Regional Championships held in Columbus, followed by the Big Ten Fall Individual Tournament and concluding the fall with the Oracle Fall Championships in Surprise, Ariz.
The team portion of the schedule includes a handful of tough non-conference opponents to groom the Buckeyes for a potential NCAA title run. After the ITA Kick-Off in January, Ohio State will host Arizona State, Texas, Texas A&M, and USC leading up to the National Indoor Team tournament in Madison, Wisc. Then the Buckeyes hit the road for their next three contests against Notre Dame, Georgia and Stanford before beginning Big Ten conference play.
Loaded with a talented incoming class and a skilled returning roster, the Buckeyes are poised for another dominant year.
