COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s gymnastics team was one of 36 teams selected to compete in the 2021 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Regionals. The Buckeyes will take part in the Morgantown regional, hosted by West Virginia on April 1-3 at WVU Coliseum.
Based on the regional format, nine teams will compete at each of the four regional sites over three days. No. 4 Michigan, No. 5 Cal, No. 12 BYU, No. 13 UCLA, Towson, Kent State, Penn State and West Virginia will join Ohio State in Morgantown.
Ohio State will face Towson, Cal and BYU in the first session of the second round on Friday at 1 p.m. The second session features UCLA, Kent State, Michigan and the winner of Thursday’s first-round matchup between West Virginia and Penn State. The top two teams from each of Friday’s sessions will advance to the regional final, slated for Saturday at 7 p.m.
The top two teams, top all-round gymnast (who is not on an advancing team) and top individual on each event (who is not on an advancing team or an all-around qualifier) from each regional final will receive a berth to the national championships. The NCAA Championships are scheduled for April 16-17 in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Buckeyes will be making their 42nd appearance in an NCAA Regional. It will be the third consecutive year head coach Meredith Paulicivic has led Ohio State to an NCAA postseason appearance.
