Buckeyes Remain in Top-25 Polls from AP and USA Today


COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Associated Press and USA Today released their women’s basketball polls on Tuesday, following the second week of regular-season play. Ohio State was selected 17th in the AP preseason poll on Oct. 19 and dropped to 21st in the Nov. 15 poll after two wins in the first week of the season. The Buckeyes were selected 25th in the USA Today poll on Nov. 3 prior to the start of the season.

Ohio State’s offense took control in the lone game of the week, a 94-63 win against Bowling Green last Wednesday. The Buckeyes (3-0) shot 67.9 percent from the floor in the first half and 56.7 percent during the game, also winning the battle on the boards by a 40-26 margin. OSU connected on eight of 14 three-point attempts (57.1 percent), led by a 4-of-6 effort from senior guard Taylor Mikesell. Four Buckeyes reached double figures as Mikesell had an Ohio State career-high 19 points, Rebeka Mikulášiková tied her career-high 19 points, Jacy Sheldon totaled 17 points (8-of-11 from the floor) and Kateri Poole scored 11 to reach double figures for the first time this season.
