Buckeyes Remain Eighth in Directors’ Cup Standings

COLUMBUS, Ohio – In the second set of spring Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings, Ohio State remains in the Top 10 in eighth place. Stanford leads the standings followed by Michigan, Virginia, Texas, USC, Penn State, Duke and the Buckeyes.

The Buckeye rowing team placed fifth at NCAA Championships earlier this month in Indianapolis as the Fours and Second Varsity Eight earned the team’s highest finishes with fifth-place finishes. Five Buckeyes secured All-Big Ten honors. Alessandra Montesano and Lexie Nothdurft garnered First Team All-Big Ten recognition and Leonie Heuer and Ida Kruse picked up Second Team All-Big Ten recognition.

The men’s tennis team reached the NCAA quarterfinals, ending the season as ITA Indoor National Champions, Big Ten Champions and Big Ten Tournament champions. Director of Tennis Ty Tucker was named the ITA Midwest Region and Big Ten Coach of the Year while associate head coach Justin Kronauge picked up his fourth ITA Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year. The team’s two senior captains also were honored as Martin Joyce was named the ITA Midwest Regional Senior Player of the Year and Hunter Tubert was named the ITA Midwest Regional Most Improved Senior.

Ohio State’s men’s golf team also earned a 13th-place finish at NCAA Championships last month in Fayetteville, Ark. Senior Daniel Wetterich garnered first team All-Big Ten honors while fellow senior Will Grimmer earned second team all-conference honors.

The Learfield Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Complete standings and the scoring structure can be found on NACDA’s website at www.directorscup.org.
