COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s hockey team ranks third in the preseason USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine College Hockey Poll, USA Hockey announced Tuesday. The team’s ranking is the highest preseason ranking in program history.
The Buckeyes, who received 129 votes, follow top-ranked Wisconsin (189 points, 18 first place votes) and Northeastern (162 votes, one first place vote). Overall, four of Ohio State’s opponents this season received preseason rankings. The WCHA has the most teams ranked in the preseason poll with four teams in the rankings.
The 25th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women’s College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the five NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey.
