COLUMBUS, OHIO – The No. 10 Ohio State Buckeyes had their most productive game of the year offensively in defeating Lake Superior State, 8-2, tonight at Value City Arena.

The Buckeyes (11-8-2, 10-4-2 CCHA) took about ten minutes to get rolling, but once they did, they couldn’t be stopped. The goal barrage began 11:24 into the first period when Chris Richards (Sr., Cornwall, Ontario) scored the first of his two goals, tipping home a beautiful pass from Jean-Francois Dufour (So., Bedford, Quebec). Just over two minutes later, Neal Rech (Sr., Chicago, Ill.) scored to make the score 2-0. Richards then added another goal with 3:36 left in the period.

OSU carried the momentum into the second period, getting goals from Rob Gubala (So., Lemont, Ill.) and Brandon Lafrance (Sr., Navan, Ontario).

In a game full of offensive stars, perhaps the one that stood out most was Ohio State’s Hobie Baker candidate Hugo Boisvert (Jr., St. Eustache, Quebec). Having already recorded an assist in the second period, Boisvert added the Buckeyes’ sixth goal when he took a pass from Eric Meloche (Jr., Rosemere, Quebec) through the slot and went top shelf on Lakers goalie Mike Brusseau. Boisvert later added another assist on Nick Ganga’s (Fr., Long Beach, Calif.) fourth goal of the season. The assist gave Boisvert the CCHA lead in points.

Once again, Jeff Maund (So., Mississauga, Ontario) was outstanding in goal. Coming off a shutout win over archrival Michigan, Maund carried a shutout into the third period before being scored on at 3:40, ending his shutout streak at 114:00. He ended the game with 25 saves.

Ohio State has now won 17 consecutive games played at home. Fifteen of those were in the OSU Ice Rink. The Buckeyes now play all their games in beautiful Value City Arena.

OSU and Lake Superior State will finish up this two game series on Saturday, when they meet at 12 pm at Value City Arena. Tickets are available by calling the OSU Ticket Office at 292-2624 or 1-800-GOBUCKS.
