Buckeyes Post 2-0 Shutout vs. Indiana

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State (4-1-3) knocked off visiting Indiana (4-4) Thursday 2-0 with goals from a pair of underclassmen at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus.

The Buckeyes scored first on a goal by freshman Peyton McNamara in the 10th minute from an assist by sophomore Emma Sears. It was McNamara’s third goal of the season. Sears recorded her first assist on the year and second for her career.

Ohio State secured the win when Sears scored from a long pass over the top from Marissa Birzon in the 79th minute for the 2-0 final score. Birzon has three assists this season and five for her career.

Ohio State senior keeper Bailey Kolinski notched her first career shutout. Indiana managed just two shots on goal. The Buckeyes put nine shots on net, taking 14 overall.

The game started under cloudy skies, a slight breeze and temperatures in the low 70s. A light rain began to fall with about 20 minutes remaining in the first half and continued off-and-on for the remainder of the game.

Senior day is up next for the Buckeyes at noon Sunday vs. Northwestern at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
