Columbus, Ohio— Ohio State’s pistol team has been on a roll all season and it continued last weekend with a first place finish at the Winter Open.

The Buckeyes came away with the top overall team score in the field of six, edging out The Citadel for the top spot. Irina Andrianova won a pair of individual events and helped lead the women’s team to a season-high score of 2,715 en route to a first place finish in women’s team aggregate.

Mike Soklaski added a pair of Top 3 finishes, accomplishing that feat in free pistol (258) and air pistol (559). On the women’s side, Kara Moody’s score of 542 in sport pistol was good enough for third place and in air it was Andrianova and Emily Rust who went 2-3 to help Ohio State secure the top team score.

Individual competition was tight, with community shooter R. Dan Pauley claiming the title of 3-Gun Match Champion (1369), closely followed by The Citadel’s David Wilkinson (1368) with OSU’s Quentin Cauffman taking third (1348).

The Buckeyes next competition is at home, Feb. 10th and 11th, when they host the Mid-West Collegiate Sectionals to make their bid to qualify for the Collegiate Nationals at Ft. Benning, Georgia in March.
