Columbus, Ohio– Ohio State’s pistol team hosted the University of Akron and Ashland University in the annual Fall Classic Sunday at the Hugh Wiley shooting range.

The Buckeyes had a good showing scoring 6406 to Akron’s 6209 to capture another win for the 2016-17 season.

In the individual competition OSU took the first three spots in free pistol – Anthony McCollum (524); Quentin Cauffman (515) and Mike Soklaski (503).  Akron’s Brett Tucker was high for the Zips with a 501.

Standard pistol saw Buckeye Quentin Coffman win first (541) followed by Akron’s Brett Tucker (541) – who lost the tie breaker; followed by OSU’s Zack Dahmen capturing third (538). 

In Open Air Pistol, the Bucks took first – Anthony McCollum (566) with Mike Soklaski taking second (562) and the Zips Bryce Tucker 557 at third.

The Woman’s competition saw the Lady Bucks best the Zips (2688 to 1540), with a 1625 in sport pistol to Akron’s 1441, and a 1062 in air pistol to Akron’s 995. 

OSU’s Irina Andrianova won sport with a 557 with Liz Buerling taking second with 545.  Andrianova also took woman’s air with a 357, and OSU’s Kara Moody claimed third with a 355. 

The Buckeyes next competition is a 4-way tournament at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, where they will test themselves again the national’s top collegiate teams.
