Complete Results

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s track and field team competed at the SPIRE NCAA Division I Invitational Friday and Saturday in Geneva, Ohio.

Highlights included a school record in the 800m from sophomore Katie Borchers, an impressive 200m performance from sophomore Aisha Cavin, and improved times from both the Distance Medley and 4x400m relay teams.

Here is a complete recap of the two-day meet: 

200m – Seeded
Cavin finished third in a competitive 200m final with an indoor personal-best time of 23.63, the third-best time in school indoor history and a top-15 performance nationally. Illinois All-American Ashley Spencer placed first overall in 23.53, while former Buckeye All-American Madison McNary earned runner-up honors in 23.58.

200m – Unseeded
First place went to junior Adenike Pedro in a time of 24.66. Kent State’s Katie Reiser was the runner-up in 24.91.

400m – Unseeded
Sophomore Alexandria Johnson took first place in a personal-best time of 55.13. Second place went to SMU’s Shauniece Steele (55.33).

Freshman SoSo Walker placed sixth overall in a personal-best time of 1:33.06. A facility-record time of 1:30.03 helped Sarah Wells of Toronto to a first-place finish.

Competing against a loaded field, Borchers’ school-record time of 2:07.11 helped her to an eighth-place finish. Fellow sophomore Janel Olberding posted a personal-best time of 2:07.58 – the second-fastest in OSU indoor history – to finish 10th. Both times rank among the Top 20 in Division I this season. Michigan’s Rebecca Addison topped the podium with a facility-record time of 2:04.01.

Sophomore Michelle Thomas completed her race in a personal-best time of 16:50.46 to take third overall. Junior Meredith Wagner (17:03.32) and sophomore Nicole Hilton (personal-best time of 17:11.68) finished ninth and 10th, respectively. Toronto’s Rachel Hannah won the event in 16:38.14.

Triple Jump
A personal-best mark of 12.21m (40-0.75) helped sophomore Abie Ehimwenman to an eighth-place finish. Dior Delophant of Kent State was the winner at 13.03m (42-9.00).

Long Jump
Ehimwenman followed up her triple jump effort with a third-place finish in the long jump at 5.95m (19-6.25), a season-best mark. Brittany Cheese of Akron took first place at 6.10m (20-0.25).

Weight Throw
Senior Alexis Thomas picked up a bronze medal with a mark of 20.12m (66-0.25). Purdue’s Dani Bunch captured gold at 20.85m (68-5.00), a facility record.

Distance Medley
Ohio State ‘A’ – Borchers, Olberding, Walker and senior Tori Brink – finished third overall in 11:30.76, the second-best time in school history and a top-20 Division I performance. Michigan finished in first place in a facility-record time of 11:09.39.

4x400m Relay
Ohio State ‘A’ – Cavin, Walker, Johnson and freshman Cheyenne Hoerr – turned in a fourth-place time of 3:40.32, the fifth-fastest relay in school history. Illinois claimed first in a facility-record time of 3:37.19.
