COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s swimming team opened up the Ohio State Winter Invite against competitors from Buffalo, Wright State, Akron, Ball State, Toledo, Eastern Michigan and Penn State on Saturday night.

The evening began on a strong note in the 200 medley relay for the team of Mark Belanger, Keanu Stephenson, Peter Lyon, and Matt McHugh as it swam a NCAA B-cut time of 1:29.94 to place first.

Ian Betts followed with a victory in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:31.46, followed by Stephenson clinching his second win of the night when he finished first in the 100 butterfly (49.67).

Freshman Matt Moen stepped up to claim another Buckeye first place finish in the 400 individual medley (3:54.00).

Closing out the first day of competition, the freestyle relay team of Alex Rosen, Andrew Appleby, Charlie Fry and Ivan Mitrovic claimed a victory with a time of 1:26.23.

Ohio State resumes competition tomorrow, February 9, 2014 at McCorkel Aquatic Pavilion with preliminaries beginning at 10 a.m. and finals slated to begin at 3 p.m.
