COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 13-ranked Ohio State women’s tennis team will take part in the Michigan Invitational this weekend in Ann Arbor, Mich. It is a hidden dual event, set for Saturday through Monday, where the Buckeyes will be joined by the host No. 22-ranked Wolverines, Northwestern and Wisconsin.
There is no team scoring at the event, with players competing individually. There is no public access to the matches; streaming of all eight courts will be available through Michigan’s website (HERE).
Each team will play three rounds of doubles and three rounds of singles. There will be up to eight flights in singles and four flights in doubles per round. Each team will play one round of singles and one round of doubles per day. The third set will be played to completion in singles.

ITA Kickoff Weekend Up Next
Ohio State’s dual match season starts with ITA Kickoff Weekend in the new Ty Tucker Tennis Center in Columbus. The first round matches are set for Jan. 23, with Ohio State playing Syracuse at 9 a.m. and match two, between Virginia and Tennessee, at noon, with consolation (10 a.m.) and championship (1 p.m.) play Jan. 24. There will be no public access to the event in Columbus; live scoring and video will be available for all six courts.
There are seven sites hosting ITA Kickoff Weekend matches, with each site winner advancing to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship Feb. 5-7 at Oklahoma State. The Cowgirls will complete the eight-team field.
In the Rankings
The Oracle ITA Division I Preseason Rankings for singles and doubles were released Wednesday. Buckeye sophomore Irina Cantos Siemers is No. 78 in the singles rankings and is joined by Buckeye junior Kolie Allen to make up the nation’s 42nd-ranked doubles tandem.
In the team rankings released Thursday, the Buckeyes are No. 13. Ohio State is the highest ranked Big Ten team and is joined in the Top 25 by No. 22 Michigan.
Cantos Siemers, from Barcelona, ended her freshman season ranked 73rd in singles. She was 15-9 as a rookie, with a 7-2 record in dual matches, and reached a high of No. 54 in the ITA rankings last season.
The duo of Cantos Siemers and Allen, a native of Lombard, Illinois, finished the 2020 campaign at No. 61 in the ITA doubles rankings. The Buckeyes were 4-3 overall as a team in 2020, with a 3-2 mark in dual matches, all on court one. Included in their victories was a win over the nation’s No. 9-ranked duo from Vanderbilt.
