COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State pistol season began this weekend as the Buckeyes defeated both Army and the Coast Guard in West Point, N.Y. The Buckeyes won with an Open score of 6,735 while Army tallied 6,537.
Jackson Leverett, competing for the first time for the Scarlet and Gray since the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, took first place in the air pistol (576) and sport pistol (578) while finishing second in the standard pistol (550). Jackson’s brother, Henry, who was also an Olympian this past summer, finished fourth in the air pistol (563), fourth in the sport pistol (563) and first in the standard pistol (551).
Jackson Leverett ended with an aggregate Open score of 1704, the highest of any competitor. Katelyn Abeln finished second at 1689 and Henry Leverett was third at 1677. Maria Tsarik checked in at fourth place overall (1658) while Cade Haiby was eighth (1627).
The Buckeyes had the top four overall finishers in the air pistol, the top two in the sport pistol and the top three in the standard pistol.
