COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s lacrosse team gathered for the first time in 2010 Tuesday morning, meeting in the squad’s newly-upgraded locker room in the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

Since the team members left campus for winter break, the locker room was overhauled and now features new locker and storage setups, a new high-definition television, a projector and screen for watching game film, a countdown clock and an Xbox 360 console.  The project was funded by the members of the men’s lacrosse 11th Man Club, alumni and friends of the program.

Bill Moffitt, assistant building coordinator for the WHAC, managed the locker room renovations, with Tim Lewis, a staff electrician, handling the video and audio (and video game) aspects. Both men explained the additions to the team. Heather Lyke, associate athletics director for sport administration, also addressed the team on their academics and community service efforts.

In addition to the new locker room setup, the players saw their new 2010 Nike uniforms, with scarlet, gray and white sets. New STX gloves had already arrived, with a secondary gray helmet from Cascade on the way.

The meeting wrapped up with a reflection time, where all the players and staff members shared something they were grateful for, something they would like to improve on and something they had the opportunity to do over break.

The team members participated in their first official fitness testing following the meeting and will continue testing through this week before beginning official practice Jan. 11.

The season opens with an exhibition game at Duke Feb. 6. The regular season begins at home against Villanova at 1 p.m. Feb. 13.
