Columbia, Missouri – The seventh-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes suffered their first defeat of the season in a 1-0 loss to the Missouri Tigers Friday night at Missouri’s Walton Stadium.
After a scoreless first half of action, Missouri scored the game’s only goal in the 50th minute, an unassisted shot by Dominique Richardson. Missouri outshot the Buckeyes 15-11 for the game; the teams attempted equal number of corner kicks, 5-5.
Paige Maxwell and Tiffany Cameron each attempted three shots for Ohio State. In goal, OSU’s Katie Baumgardner recorded three saves, while Missouri tallied six.
Five yellow cards were issued in the physical contest, on Jessica Greer, Allison Hu and Kendra Collins of Missouri , and Aly Walker and Kristen Niederhaus of Ohio State.
The 2-1 Buckeyes return to action Sunday hosting Wright State at 6 p.m. at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Missouri is now 2-1.
